History

 

1925

Hacı Mehmet Bahattin Ulusoy ventured into the transportation sector by chance when he built a raft to help the people of the Black Sea Region after a natural disaster caused transportation difficulties. In 1928, when he bought his first vehicle, he likely had no idea that he was laying the foundation for anearly century-old giant spanning land, sea, and air transportation, as well as tourism, automotive, and textile sectors.

1928

The first vehicle was purchased, marking the beginning of the Ulusoy brand’s leadership in transportation.

1937

Passenger and freight transportation began between Of and Trabzon.

1957


At just 22 years old, Cemal Ulusoy took over Ulusoy Bus Management. This milestone would not only elevate Ulusoy to greater heights but also significantly shape and develop the sector.

1963


Cemal Ulusoy moved to Istanbul, becoming Ulusoy’s gateway to the West. In the late 1960s, he established Ulusoy Tourism Company.

1970


Cemal Ulusoy made the first institutional move in the Turkish transportation sector by founding the Anatolian Bus Operators Association.

1974


International road freight transportation commenced.

1979


Ulusoy UK Express was established, creating a bridge for logistics activities between Turkey and the UK.

1982


Ulusoy entered the maritime transportation sector.

1985


Ulusoy Travel Transportation and Trade Inc. was founded, providing nationwide fuel, logistics, and distribution services.

1987


After serving as president of the Anatolian Bus Operators Association for 18 years, Cemal Ulusoy merged it with other associations to establish the International Anatolian Thrace Bus Operators Association. The construction of the still-operating Greater Istanbul Bus Terminal was also initiated by Cemal Ulusoy in 1987.

1988


Ulusoy GmbH was established to support Ulusoy’s European operations.

1989


The passing of Cemal Ulusoy marked a great loss. Known for introducing numerous firsts and redefining the concept of transportation in Turkey, he passed down a legacy of principles to the next generation.

These principles prioritizing quality, valuing people, earning trust, adhering to the right path, continuous improvement, embracing technology, and staying in step with the world-laid the foundation for the creation of an immortal brand: ULUSOY.

1999


Ulusoy Warehousing Services Ltd. was established, offering multi-user or custom bonded and unbonded storage solutions.
Following the division of Ulusoy Commercial Investments Holding among its founders, Alican Ulusoy established Ulusoy International Investment Holding. It focused on international logistics, energy, waste management, and recycling.

Ulusoy Logistics expanded its services to reach any destination accessible by land worldwide. It broadened its scope to include air, land, and sea transportation.
Ulusoy Ziegler, a partnership of 40% Ziegler and 60% Ulusoy, provided international sea, land, and air freight services.
In maritime transportation, Ulusoy offered container, tanker, breakbulk, customs clearance, transit transport, and domestic distribution services, including Ro-Ro transportation across 10 channels on 3 different routes.
Ulusoy established strong relationships with aviation companies in Turkey and globally, utilizing its IATA certification to provide door-to-door services.
By 1999, Ulusoy Warehousing was restructured to serve a broader clientele, operating with 152,200 m² of covered area, 40,500 m² of bonded storage, 20,000 pallet rack capacity, hydraulic ramps, and a skilled team of 80 in warehouses located in Istanbul, Kocaeli (Gebze), and Mersin.

2010

By 2010, Ulusoy became one of the few companies offering fully integrated logistics services worldwide.

Ulusoy Logistics, with nearly a century of experience and strategic investments, became a global leader in logistics, operating with a fleet of 275 vehicles, over 400 employees, 63,200 m² of storage space, and robust national and international partnerships to provide optimal logistics solutions.

Through its offices in the UK and Germany, Ulusoy Logistics achieved top-tier customer satisfaction with employees speaking the same language as its clients. Ulusoy UK Express maintained its position as a trusted partner in Europe, providing customs and distribution services to the UK, Scotland, and Ireland.

In addition to transportation, Ulusoy managed recycling and waste for steel, cables, plastics, scrap metal, aluminum, and other materials.

2014

Ulusoy introduced railway transport with customdesigned wagons (DB Schenker Rail), capable of direct loading onto trains.

2015

In partnership with Allport Cargo Services, Ulusoy expanded its services to North and South America, the Middle East, Asia, Oceania, and all European countries, with a network of 430 offices and over 23,000 employees under the name Ulusoy Allport Cargo Services.

TODAY

Today, under Alican Ulusoy’s leadership, Ulusoy International Investment Holding continues to operate in Dangerous Goods Transportation, Warehousing, and Special Project Applications.
